Peterborough County — The Ontario Government is investing $435,210 through the Skills development Fund Training Stream to support 50 people in Peterborough County to get the skills they need to land good-paying, in-demand jobs in Ontario’s aerospace and transportation equipment sectors. This funding is a part of our broader effort to strengthen Ontario’s workforce, improve productivity, and protect workers from U.S. tariffs. This investment underpins our government’s $2.5 billion investment to promote better training, better jobs, with bigger paycheques.
“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is protecting Ontario by investing in the tools, training, and resources needed to keep our workforce strong,” said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “Through targeted funding, we’re strengthening our supply chains, growing a job-ready workforce, and building the foundation for a more self-reliant and productive province – one that can compete, deliver, and win.”
In partnership with Flying Colours Corp, we are investing $435,210 in Flying Colours – Aircraft Specialized Skilled Trades Training Program to recruit, train, and upskill both new and existing talent. This investment will support 50 participants across Flying Colours Corp., who collectively support Ontario’s aerospace and transportation equipment sectors.
“This investment will open doors for people in Peterborough County to gain the skills needed to thrive in Ontario’s aerospace and transportation equipment sectors,” said Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock. “By training workers for good-paying, in-demand jobs, we’re strengthening our local economy and ensuring Ontario continues to lead in advanced manufacturing.”
The Skills Development Fund Training Stream is open to a wide range of applicants, including employers, industry associations, labour unions, hospitals and many more. The funding announce today builds on our government’s mission to protect Ontario and ensure it remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
“The Skills Development Fund is helping us invest in the future of aviation by equipping the next generation with the skills needed for precision trades. As the aviation sector continues to grow, especially in areas like aircraft paint, cabinetry, upholstery, and interiors, building trades are becoming a vital pipeline for innovation, safety, and excellence. This investment ensures we can meet industry demand while creating long-term, sustainable, high-value careers for our workforce.” Kate Ahrens, Flying Colours Corp/ FlexJet.
