Lawn Bowling in Bobcaygeon gets even better!

Bobcaygeon, ON – On Monday, local MPP Laurie Scott stopped in to meet with some of the members of the Bobcaygeon Lawn Bowling Club to formally congratulate them on the work they’ve done since receiving a $77,500 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation late last year.

“I am pleased to visit the Bobcaygeon Lawn Bowling Club and to recognize the improvements that were made with capital funds received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock. “The Lawn Bowling Club has made the grounds safe, and beautiful for all to enjoy. Well done!”

The grant was used to purchase new LED outside lighting for the Club as well as a new deck and 14 new shelters around the bowling greens. The decking and shelters were constructed close to 30 years ago and were becoming a safety hazard. The new LED lighting will also help curtail Hydro costs, and were needed as the previous lights were old and not working effectively.

“For the safety of our members and guests from other Clubs, these renovations had to be completed and could not have been done by our small Club alone. We are very grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for enabling us to do this work,” said Jim Judge, President, Bobcaygeon Lawn Bowling Club.

The Bobcaygeon Lawn Bowling Club has been in existence since 1935 and offers the sport of lawn bowling to all ages. It is a low impact sport which also fills a social aspect for its members.
