Meet Laurie

Laurie Scott is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, having been elected four times to represent her constituents at Queen’s Park since 2003. She currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Community Safety and Women’s Issues.

Laurie was born and raised in Kinmount and credits her late father Bill Scott, the local Federal Member of Parliament for 28 years, with having instilled in her a strong commitment to public service and the importance of giving back to your community.

Laurie is a tireless advocate for victims of human sex trafficking in Ontario, both inside and outside of the Legislature. She was recognized for her work with the 2017 Champion for Children award by the BOOST Child & Youth Advocacy Centre in Toronto. She is also passionate about encouraging women to get actively involved in public life.

A graduate of Loyalist College, Laurie previously worked as a Registered Nurse, including at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay.

When she is not working, Laurie enjoys outdoor sports. She is also an animal lover and enjoys riding horses and helping her two teenage nieces in their riding competitions.
